I am an independent Midwife(RM) and Lactation consultant (IBCLC). I qualified as a midwife in 1986 and have worked in NHS hospitals and community settings for many years.

My passion is for women receiving safe, friendly, evidence based care and attention at this most precious time .

I provide continuity of care that will enable you to make informed decisions and feel more confident and positive in your choices for your birth and when your baby arrives. Antenatal appointments will be at times to suit you and your family and includes advice on how to keep healthy to work towards a positive birthing experience.

Birth preparation includes a personalised birthing plan, breathing and relaxation for labour. We also have birthing pools available for hire. I can offer home birth and this includes the support of a second independent midwife. If you choose to give birth at St Marys I will attend as your advocate.

The postnatal period can be an intense special time and home visits can be tailored to suit you. I can provide breastfeeding support and help with all aspects of caring for your new baby.

My interest in supporting mums to breastfeed has led me to train as a breastfeeding counsellor with the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant IBCLC (recertified 2015 for further 5 years). I am also able to diagnose and treat tongue tie if required (frenulotomy).
